Privacy policy

Soko Marketplace respects your privacy. We only collect and use information necessary to run the marketplace experience — account details, store information, and order-related communication data.

Section 01

What we collect

When you create an account we collect your name, email, phone number, and the password hash. For sellers, we also store shop details (handle, name, bio, location), product catalog data, and any storefront customizations.

Buyer carts are stored in your browser's local storage, not on our servers. When you tap Order on WhatsApp we log the click (which shop, which item) to help us measure marketplace activity — but the actual conversation with the seller happens in WhatsApp, outside our systems.

Section 02

How we use data

We use the data we collect to operate the platform: serve your shop, surface relevant search results, prevent abuse, and provide customer support. Aggregated, non-personal metrics inform product decisions.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. Third-party services we use (Supabase for auth, our database host, our hosting provider) are limited to what they need to run their service.

Section 03

Cookies and tracking

We use only the cookies required to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not run third-party advertising or analytics trackers that follow you across the web.

Section 04

Your rights

You can request a copy, correction, or deletion of your data at any time. Closing a seller account deletes the storefront and product listings; we retain transactional metadata (order timestamps) for legitimate business purposes.

To exercise these rights, message support at +256 778 087 986 or email linkmeuganda@gmail.com.

Section 05

Changes to this policy

We update this policy as our data practices evolve. Material changes are announced via email to active accounts. Continued use after a change goes live constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
